The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-R550 vs Yamaha ATS-1070 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, HW-R550 has a total rating of 5 out of 10 versus 6,6 for ATS-1070. The competitors' control buttons are different: volume down, volume up, power, source and input, mute, volume down, volume up, power, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Samsung HW-R550 has 2.1 versus 2.0 for the Yamaha ATS-1070. The output power is different and equal to 320 (overall) W for the HW-R550 versus 120 W for the ATS-1070. Only the Yamaha ATS-1070 has a built-in subwoofer. Both models do not have WI-FI support. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Samsung HW-R550 has 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs versus 1/0 of the Yamaha ATS-1070. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. For connectivity, the HW-R550 received a rating of 7/10 versus 6/10, respectively.
App control is available for the ATS-1070. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
