l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Sony HT-ST5000 vs Samsung HW-N650. The Sony HT-ST5000 was rated 7.8, while the Samsung HW-N650 has a rating 6.6. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, input Bluetooth, music service for the HT-ST5000 and volume down, volume up, input, power for the HW-N650.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that HT-ST5000 has 7.1.2 and HW-N650 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 140 versus 360 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Rate 9 out of 10 received the Sony HT-ST5000 for audio features and specs, but the Samsung HW-N650 received 7 out of 10. Google Play Music service is only in the HW-N650. Each of the competitors can play content from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the HT-ST5000. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 3/1 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Sony HT-ST5000 versus 1/0 HDMIs in the Samsung HW-N650. As in the HT-ST5000, so in the HW-N650 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the HT-ST5000 at 9 out of 10, while the HW-N650 was rated 7/10.
Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The Samsung HW-N650 equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration can become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder is onboard the HT-ST5000. The HT-ST5000 can work with surround sound due to DTS:X support. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review. The HT-ST5000 was rated 7/10, while the HW-N650 received a mark of 2/10 for multichannel surround.
