l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Samsung HW-Q90R vs Samsung HW-N650. The Samsung HW-Q90R was rated 7.2, while the Samsung HW-N650 has a rating 6.6. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, source for the HW-Q90R and volume down, volume up, input, power for the HW-N650.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that HW-Q90R has 7.1.4 and HW-N650 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 512 (overall) versus 360 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Rate 10 out of 10 received the Samsung HW-Q90R for audio features and specs, but the Samsung HW-N650 received 7 out of 10. Google Play Music service is only in the HW-N650. Each of the competitors can play content from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the HW-Q90R. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 2/1 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Samsung HW-Q90R versus 1/0 HDMIs in the Samsung HW-N650. As in the HW-Q90R, so in the HW-N650 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. The connectivity of each of the models was estimated at 7/10. Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The soundbars in this review are equipped with a microphone. The Samsung HW-N650 may become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder is onboard the HW-Q90R. The HW-Q90R can work with surround sound due to DTS:X support. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review. The HW-Q90R was rated 7/10, while the HW-N650 received a mark of 2/10 for multichannel surround.
