The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-N850 vs Yamaha ATS-1070 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, HW-N850 has a total rating of 8.6 out of 10 versus 6,6 for ATS-1070. The competitors' control buttons are different: power, input, volume down, volume up and input, mute, volume down, volume up, power, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Samsung HW-N850 has 5.1.2 versus 2.0 for the Yamaha ATS-1070. The output power is different and equal to 372 (overall) W for the HW-N850 versus 120 W for the ATS-1070. Only the Yamaha ATS-1070 has a built-in subwoofer. The Samsung HW-N850 got our rating of 7 out of 10, and the Yamaha ATS-1070 6 for its audio features and specs.
Each of rivals supports AirPlay. Spotify is available on each of the soundbars. Both devices can play streaming audio from Pandora, Tuneln, Deezer, Chromecast.
Only the Samsung HW-N850 can connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Samsung HW-N850 has 2/0 HDMI inputs/outputs versus 1/0 of the Yamaha ATS-1070. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. For connectivity, the HW-N850 received a rating of 7/10 versus 6/10, respectively. App control is available in every soundbar. A built-in microphone is present only on the HW-N850. Multi-room is only available for the Samsung HW-N850.
Only the HW-N850 has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the HW-N850. For multichannel surround Samsung HW-N850 got a rating of 9, and Yamaha ATS-1070 6 out of 10.
