I had a chance to test and compare two models: Sonos Beam vs KEF HTF7003 and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. The Sonos Beam was rated 5.6, while the KEF HTF7003 has a rating 5.
Soundbars have different amplification type - active versus passive respectively to devices. By the number of channels, the devices do not differ. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 6 out of 10 in our ranking. Both devices do not have Google Play Music on board. The units in this comparison do not support Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the Beam. Bluetooth support integrated in the Beam. Neither the Beam nor HTF7003 has the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is not possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the Beam at 6 out of 10, while the HTF7003 was rated 4/10. The manufacturer of the Beam provides a device control application. The Sonos Beam equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the Beam or HTF7003. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review.
