Yamaha YAS-107 vs Samsung HW-N650 review

l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Yamaha YAS-107 vs Samsung HW-N650. The Yamaha YAS-107 was rated 6.8, while the Samsung HW-N650 has a rating 7.6. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, input, mute, volume down, volume up, power for the YAS-107 and volume down, volume up, input, power for the HW-N650.

Audio features

Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that YAS-107 has 2.0 and HW-N650 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 120 versus 360 (overall) according to devices. A built-in subwoofer is available only in the Yamaha YAS-107. An external subwoofer connects to the YAS-107 via wired, but HW-N650 has wireless connection type. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 7 out of 10 in our ranking.

Streaming services

AirPlay supported by both soundbars. Each of the competitors can play content from Spotify. Audio streaming from Pandora, Tuneln, Deezer, Chromecast is in each of the presented soundbars.

Connectivity

Both models do not have a wireless Wi-Fi interface. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs are in each of soundbars. As in the YAS-107, so in the HW-N650 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). We rated the connectivity of the YAS-107 at 6 out of 10, while the HW-N650 was rated 7/10.

Features

Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The Samsung HW-N650 equipped with a microphone. The Samsung HW-N650 may become part of a multiroom system.

Multichannel surround

Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the YAS-107 or HW-N650. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The same score of 6/10 was put to the soundbars for multichannel surround support.
