I had a chance to test and compare two models: Sonos Beam vs Yamaha YAS-107 and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. The Sonos Beam was rated 6, while the Yamaha YAS-107 has a rating 6.8. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, volume down, volume up, microphone, play/pause for the Beam and input, mute, volume down, volume up, power for the YAS-107.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that Beam has 3.0 and YAS-107 has 2.0. A built-in subwoofer is available only in the Yamaha YAS-107. An external subwoofer connects to the Beam via wireless, but YAS-107 has wired connection type. Rate 6 out of 10 received the Sonos Beam for audio features and specs, but the Yamaha YAS-107 received 7 out of 10.
The Sonos Beam is equipped with AirPlay 2, but the Yamaha YAS-107 has AirPlay on board. The YAS-107 can play audio from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the Beam. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs are in each of soundbars. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) is implemented only in the YAS-107. Connecting devices via USB is not possible in both models. The connectivity of each of the models was estimated at 6/10. Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The Sonos Beam equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the Beam or YAS-107. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The Beam was rated 4/10, while the YAS-107 received a mark of 6/10 for multichannel surround.
