The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-J355 vs Yamaha ATS-1070 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, HW-J355 has a total rating of 5.8 out of 10 versus 6 for ATS-1070. The competitors' control buttons are different: power, volume down, volume up, input and input, mute, volume down, volume up, power, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Samsung HW-J355 has 2.1 versus 2.0 for the Yamaha ATS-1070. The output power is identical and equal to 60 W. Only the Yamaha ATS-1070 has a built-in subwoofer. Only the Samsung HW-J355 can connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Only the ATS-1070 supports HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). For connectivity, each of the soundbars received a rating of 6/10.
App control is available in every soundbar. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
None of soundbars equipped with Dolby Atmos multichannel audio decoder. The soundbars do not support the surround sound technology DTS:X. Compared devices do not have DTS Virtual:X support. For multichannel surround Samsung HW-J355 got a rating of 2, and Yamaha ATS-1070 4 out of 10.
