I had a chance to test and compare two models: Samsung HW-J355 vs Sony HT-S350 and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. The Samsung HW-J355 was rated 5.8, while the Sony HT-S350 has a rating 5. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, input for the HW-J355 and power, volume down, volume up, Bluetooth, TV for the HT-S350.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. By the number of channels, the devices do not differ. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 60 versus 85 according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer connects to the HW-J355 via wired and wireless, but HT-S350 has wireless connection type. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 7 out of 10 in our ranking. Google Play Music service is only in the HW-J355. The HW-J355 can play audio from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the HW-J355. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) is implemented only in the HT-S350. We rated the connectivity of the HW-J355 at 6 out of 10, while the HT-S350 was rated 5/10.
The manufacturer of the HW-J355 provides a device control application. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the HW-J355 or HT-S350. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review. The HW-J355 was rated 2/10, while the HT-S350 received a mark of 4/10 for multichannel surround.
