l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Samsung HW-J355 vs Samsung HW-R450. The Samsung HW-J355 was rated 6.6, while the Samsung HW-R450 has a rating 4. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, input for the HW-J355 and volume down, volume up, power, source for the HW-R450.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. By the number of channels, the devices do not differ. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 120 versus 200 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer connects to the HW-J355 via wired and wireless, but HW-R450 has wireless connection type. Rate 7 out of 10 received the Samsung HW-J355 for audio features and specs, but the Samsung HW-R450 received 6 out of 10. The HW-J355 can play audio from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the HW-J355. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. Neither the HW-J355 nor HW-R450 has the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the HW-J355 at 6 out of 10, while the HW-R450 was rated 5/10.
The manufacturer of the HW-J355 provides a device control application. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the HW-J355 or HW-R450. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The same score of 4/10 was put to the soundbars for multichannel surround support.
