The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-M360 vs LG SL5Y that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, both soundbars have the same overall rating of 4.5. The competitors' control buttons are different: power, volume down, volume up, input and power, volume down, volume up, function, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. Soundbars have the same number of channels on 2.1. The output power is different and equal to 100 W for the HW-M360 versus 90 W for the SL5Y. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer. Rivals have wireless connection to separate subwoofer. The Samsung HW-M360 got our rating of 7 out of 10, and the LG SL5Y 8 for its audio features and specs.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. Both models do not support Google Play Music. Spotify support not implemented in both soundbars.
Both models do not have WI-FI support. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Each soundbar has 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs. Only the SL5Y supports HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Both soundbars have a USB connector. For connectivity, the HW-M360 received a rating of 5/10 versus 6/10, respectively.
App control is available for the HW-M360. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
None of soundbars equipped with Dolby Atmos multichannel audio decoder. The soundbars do not support the surround sound technology DTS:X. The SL5Y supports DTS Virtual:X. For multichannel surround Samsung HW-M360 got a rating of 2, and LG SL5Y 4 out of 10.
