The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-T550 vs LG SL5Y that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, HW-T550 has a total rating of 4.5 out of 10 versus 5 for SL5Y. The competitors' control buttons are different: volume down, volume up, power, source and power, volume down, volume up, function, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. Soundbars have the same number of channels on 2.1. The output power is different and equal to 320 (overall) W for the HW-T550 versus 400 (overall) W for the SL5Y. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer. Rivals have wireless connection to separate subwoofer. The Samsung HW-T550 got our rating of 6 out of 10, and the LG SL5Y 7 for its audio features and specs.

Both models do not have WI-FI support. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Each soundbar has 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. Both soundbars have a USB connector. For connectivity, the HW-T550 received a rating of 6/10 versus 7/10, respectively.
Compared soundbars have no app control. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
None of soundbars equipped with Dolby Atmos multichannel audio decoder. The soundbars do not support the surround sound technology DTS:X. For multichannel surround Samsung HW-T550 got a rating of 5, and LG SL5Y 6 out of 10.
