l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – LG SL5Y vs Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400. The LG SL5Y was rated 4.5, while the Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400 has a rating 7.6. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, function for the SL5Y and power, volume down, volume up, input, mute for the MusicCast BAR 400.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that SL5Y has 2.1 and MusicCast BAR 400 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 90 versus 100 according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 8 out of 10 in our ranking. Both devices do not have Google Play Music on board. The MusicCast BAR 400 can play audio from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the MusicCast BAR 400. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs are in each of soundbars. As in the SL5Y, so in the MusicCast BAR 400 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the SL5Y at 6 out of 10, while the MusicCast BAR 400 was rated 9/10. None of these soundbars can be controlled using the app. The Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400 equipped with a microphone. The Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400 may become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the SL5Y or MusicCast BAR 400. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X technology included in each soundbar in this review. The same score of 4/10 was put to the soundbars for multichannel surround support.
The Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400 is better soundbar in this comparison. Check Yamaha MusicCast BAR 400 price
