The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-N650 vs Yamaha ATS-1070 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, HW-N650 has a total rating of 6.6 out of 10 versus 6 for ATS-1070. The competitors' control buttons are different: volume down, volume up, input, power and input, mute, volume down, volume up, power, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Samsung HW-N650 has 5.1 versus 2.0 for the Yamaha ATS-1070. The output power is different and equal to 360 (overall) W for the HW-N650 versus 60 W for the ATS-1070. Only the Yamaha ATS-1070 has a built-in subwoofer. Each of rivals supports AirPlay. Both models support Google Play Music. Spotify is available on each of the soundbars. Both devices can play streaming audio from Pandora, Tuneln, Deezer, Chromecast.
Both models do not have WI-FI support. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Each soundbar has 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. For connectivity, the HW-N650 received a rating of 7/10 versus 6/10, respectively.
App control is available in every soundbar. A built-in microphone is present only on the HW-N650. Multi-room is only available for the Samsung HW-N650.
None of soundbars equipped with Dolby Atmos multichannel audio decoder. The soundbars do not support the surround sound technology DTS:X. Compared devices do not have DTS Virtual:X support. For multichannel surround Samsung HW-N650 got a rating of 2, and Yamaha ATS-1070 4 out of 10.
