l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Yamaha YAS-209 vs Samsung HW-N650. Both soundbars received a score of 6.6 in our ranking. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, input, microphone for the YAS-209 and volume down, volume up, input, power for the HW-N650.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that YAS-209 has 2.0 and HW-N650 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 100 versus 360 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 7 out of 10 in our ranking. Google Play Music service is only in the HW-N650. Each of the competitors can play content from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the YAS-209. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Yamaha YAS-209 versus 1/0 HDMIs in the Samsung HW-N650. As in the YAS-209, so in the HW-N650 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. The connectivity of each of the models was estimated at 7/10. Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The soundbars in this review are equipped with a microphone. The Samsung HW-N650 may become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the YAS-209 or HW-N650. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The YAS-209 has a modern feature such as DTS Virtual:X. The YAS-209 was rated 5/10, while the HW-N650 received a mark of 2/10 for multichannel surround.
