The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Samsung HW-Q80R vs Sony HT-A7000 that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, both soundbars have the same overall rating of 8.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Samsung HW-Q80R has 5.1.2 versus 7.1.2 for the Sony HT-A7000. The output power is different and equal to 372 (overall) W for the HW-Q80R versus 500 (overall) W for the HT-A7000. Only the Sony HT-A7000 has a built-in subwoofer. The Samsung HW-Q80R got our rating of 8 out of 10, and the Sony HT-A7000 9 for its audio features and specs.

These models have the ability to connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Each soundbar has 2/1 HDMI inputs/outputs. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. Both soundbars have a USB connector. For connectivity, each of the soundbars received a rating of 7/10. App control is available for the HW-Q80R. A built-in microphone is present only on the HW-Q80R. Multi-room is only available for the Samsung HW-Q80R.
Both devices have support for Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format. The surround sound technology DTS:X is supported by devices under review. For multichannel surround, each of the opponents received 10 points out of 10.
