I had a chance to test and compare two models: Sonos Playbar vs KEF HTF7003 and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. The Sonos Playbar was rated 4.5, while the KEF HTF7003 has a rating 5.
Soundbars have different amplification type - active versus passive respectively to devices. By the number of channels, the devices do not differ. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. Rate 7 out of 10 received the Sonos Playbar for audio features and specs, but the KEF HTF7003 received 6 out of 10. Both devices do not have Google Play Music on board. The Playbar can play audio from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the Playbar. Soundbars from this comparison do not have Bluetooth support. Neither the Playbar nor HTF7003 has the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is not possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the Playbar at 3 out of 10, while the HTF7003 was rated 4/10.
The manufacturer of the Playbar provides a device control application. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the Playbar or HTF7003. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review.
