l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Yamaha YAS-207 vs VIZIO M51ax-J6. The Yamaha YAS-207 was rated 5,4, while the VIZIO M51ax-J6 has a rating 5.4. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, input, mute, volume down, volume up, power for the YAS-207 and power, source, demo, volume down, volume up for the M51ax-J6.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that YAS-207 has 2.1 and M51ax-J6 has 5.1. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 7 out of 10 in our ranking.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. The YAS-207 can play audio from Spotify.
Both models do not have a wireless Wi-Fi interface. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Yamaha YAS-207 versus 1/1 HDMIs in the VIZIO M51ax-J6. As in the YAS-207, so in the M51ax-J6 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). We rated the connectivity of the YAS-207 at 6 out of 10, while the M51ax-J6 was rated 8/10.
The manufacturer of the YAS-207 provides a device control application. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder is onboard the M51ax-J6. The M51ax-J6 can work with surround sound due to DTS:X support. The YAS-207 was rated 4/10, while the M51ax-J6 received a mark of 8/10 for multichannel surround.
