I had a chance to test and compare two models: Yamaha YAS-207 vs Sony HT-S350 and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. Both soundbars received a score of 5 in our ranking. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, input, mute, volume down, volume up, power for the YAS-207 and power, volume down, volume up, Bluetooth, TV for the HT-S350.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. By the number of channels, the devices do not differ. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 100 versus 85 according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Audio features and specs of considered models we rated 7 out of 10 in our ranking.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. Both devices do not have Google Play Music on board. The YAS-207 can play audio from Spotify.
Both models do not have a wireless Wi-Fi interface. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Yamaha YAS-207 versus 0/1 HDMIs in the Sony HT-S350. As in the YAS-207, so in the HT-S350 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is not possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the YAS-207 at 6 out of 10, while the HT-S350 was rated 5/10.
The manufacturer of the YAS-207 provides a device control application. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the YAS-207 or HT-S350. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The YAS-207 has a modern feature such as DTS Virtual:X. The same score of 4/10 was put to the soundbars for multichannel surround support.
