l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – Samsung HW-Q80R vs Samsung HW-N650. The Samsung HW-Q80R was rated 6.8, while the Samsung HW-N650 has a rating 6.6. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, power, volume down, volume up, source for the HW-Q80R and volume down, volume up, input, power for the HW-N650.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that HW-Q80R has 5.1.2 and HW-N650 has 5.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 372 (overall) versus 360 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Rate 8 out of 10 received the Samsung HW-Q80R for audio features and specs, but the Samsung HW-N650 received 7 out of 10. Google Play Music service is only in the HW-N650. Each of the competitors can play content from Spotify.
Wireless Internet connection is realized only in the HW-Q80R. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 2/1 HDMI inputs/outputs in the Samsung HW-Q80R versus 1/0 HDMIs in the Samsung HW-N650. As in the HW-Q80R, so in the HW-N650 there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. The connectivity of each of the models was estimated at 7/10. Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The soundbars in this review are equipped with a microphone. The Samsung HW-N650 may become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder is onboard the HW-Q80R. The HW-Q80R can work with surround sound due to DTS:X support. DTS Virtual:X technology not supported by any of the soundbars in this review. The HW-Q80R was rated 7/10, while the HW-N650 received a mark of 2/10 for multichannel surround.
