The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 vs Samsung HW-Q70T that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, both soundbars have the same overall rating of 8.2. The competitors' control buttons are different: power, source, demo, volume down, volume up and volume down, volume up, power, source, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 has 9.2.4 versus 3.1.2 for the Samsung HW-Q70T. The output power is different and equal to 1000 (overall) W for the Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 versus 330 (overall) W for the HW-Q70T. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer. Rivals have wireless connection to separate subwoofer. The Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 got our rating of 10 out of 10, and the Samsung HW-Q70T 7 for its audio features and specs.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. Spotify is available on each of the soundbars.
Only the Samsung HW-Q70T can connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Nakamichi Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 has 3/1 HDMI inputs/outputs versus 1/0 of the Samsung HW-Q70T. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. Both soundbars have a USB connector. For connectivity, the Shockwafe Ultra 9.2 received a rating of 8/10 versus 9/10, respectively. App control is available for the HW-Q70T. A built-in microphone is present only on the HW-Q70T. Multi-room is only available for the Samsung HW-Q70T.
Both devices have support for Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format. The surround sound technology DTS:X is supported by devices under review. For multichannel surround, each of the opponents received 10 points out of 10.
