The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Polk Audio SIGNA S2 vs LG SN8YG that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, SIGNA S2 has a total rating of 5 out of 10 versus 6.8 for SN8YG. The competitors' control buttons are different: power, volume down, volume up, source, Bluetooth and power, volume down, volume up, function, play/pause, microphone, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Polk Audio SIGNA S2 has 2.1 versus 3.1.2 for the LG SN8YG. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer. Rivals have wireless connection to separate subwoofer. The Polk Audio SIGNA S2 got our rating of 6 out of 10, and the LG SN8YG 7 for its audio features and specs. Spotify support not implemented in both soundbars.
Only the LG SN8YG can connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Polk Audio SIGNA S2 has 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs versus 1/1 of the LG SN8YG. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. For connectivity, the SIGNA S2 received a rating of 6/10 versus 8/10, respectively. App control is available for the SN8YG. A built-in microphone is present only on the SN8YG. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
Only the SN8YG has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the SN8YG. For multichannel surround Polk Audio SIGNA S2 got a rating of 4, and LG SN8YG 10 out of 10.
