The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Yamaha YAS-108 vs LG SL5Y that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, YAS-108 has a total rating of 5.8 out of 10 versus 4.5 for SL5Y. The competitors' control buttons are different: input, mute, volume down, volume up, power and power, volume down, volume up, function, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Yamaha YAS-108 has 2.0 versus 2.1 for the LG SL5Y. Both models do not have WI-FI support. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. Each soundbar has 1/1 HDMI inputs/outputs. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. Both soundbars have a USB connector. For connectivity, the YAS-108 received a rating of 7/10 versus 6/10, respectively. App control is available for the YAS-108. A built-in microphone is present only on the YAS-108. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
None of soundbars equipped with Dolby Atmos multichannel audio decoder. The soundbars do not support the surround sound technology DTS:X. DTS Virtual:X supports both devices. For multichannel surround Yamaha YAS-108 got a rating of 5, and LG SL5Y 4 out of 10.
