The present review is aimed to compare two soundbars - Yamaha YAS-207 vs Sony HT-Z9F that are meant to satisfy the needs of cinema and music lovers. Based on our rating, YAS-207 has a total rating of 5 out of 10 versus 6.8 for HT-Z9F. The competitors' control buttons are different: input, mute, volume down, volume up, power and power, input, Bluetooth, music service, volume down, volume up, respectively.
Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the Yamaha YAS-207 has 2.1 versus 3.1 for the Sony HT-Z9F. Only the Sony HT-Z9F can connect to the Internet via WI-FI. Rivals from our review have Bluetooth support. The Yamaha YAS-207 has 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs versus 2/0 of the Sony HT-Z9F. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) feature supports both devices. For connectivity, the YAS-207 received a rating of 6/10 versus 8/10, respectively. App control is available for the YAS-207. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Multi-room is only available for the Sony HT-Z9F.
Only the HT-Z9F has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the HT-Z9F. The YAS-207 supports DTS Virtual:X. For multichannel surround Yamaha YAS-207 got a rating of 4, and Sony HT-Z9F 7 out of 10.
