I had a chance to test and compare two models: JBL Bar Studio vs LG SP7R and this review should help people who are looking for a good soundbar. Both soundbars received a score of 5 in our ranking. The soundbars are equipped with a different number of buttons, volume down, volume up, power, source for the Bar Studio and power, source, demo, volume down, volume up for the SP7R.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that Bar Studio has 2.0 and SP7R has 7.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 30 versus 580 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Rate 5 out of 10 received the JBL Bar Studio for audio features and specs, but the LG SP7R received 8 out of 10.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. The units in this comparison do not support Spotify.
Both models do not have a wireless Wi-Fi interface. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. There are 1/0 HDMI inputs/outputs in the JBL Bar Studio versus 1/1 HDMIs in the LG SP7R. As in the Bar Studio, so in the SP7R there is the HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC). Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the Bar Studio at 6 out of 10, while the SP7R was rated 7/10.
None of these soundbars can be controlled using the app. Soundbars in this review are not equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the Bar Studio or SP7R. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The Bar Studio was rated 5/10, while the SP7R received a mark of 6/10 for multichannel surround.
