Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the LG SP7R has 7.1 versus 3.1.3 for the LG S80QY. The output power is different and equal to 580 (overall) W for the SP7R versus 350 (overall) W for the S80QY. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer.
