Both soundbars have active amplification type. A significant difference between the units in the number of channels, the LG SNC4R has 4.1 versus 3.1.3 for the LG S80QY. The output power is different and equal to 420 (overall) W for the SNC4R versus 350 (overall) W for the S80QY. Competitors do not have a built-in subwoofer. App control is available for the SNC4R. None of the models under consideration have a built-in microphone. Soundbars do not have Multi-room support.
Only the S80QY has a Dolby Atmos multichannel audio format support. A surround technology DTS:X is supported only by the S80QY. For multichannel surround LG SNC4R got a rating of 5, and LG S80QY 10 out of 10.
