l would like to share my experience after comparing and testing two soundbars – LG SN5Y vs LG SNC4R. The LG SN5Y was rated 6, while the LG SNC4R has a rating 5.2. Soundbars have the same set of buttons - power, volume down, volume up, function.
Each of the models under consideration has active amplification type. A noticeable difference is the number of channels that SN5Y has 2.1 and SNC4R has 4.1. These rivals can be compared in terms of power, 400 (overall) versus 420 (overall) according to devices. The built-in subwoofer is not implemented in any of these models. An external subwoofer can be connected to any of the units in this comparison. Rate 6 out of 10 received the LG SN5Y for audio features and specs, but the LG SNC4R received 7 out of 10.
Soundbars do not have AirPlay support. The units in this comparison do not support Spotify.
Both models do not have a wireless Wi-Fi interface. Soundbars from this comparison have Bluetooth support. The HDMI Audio Return Channel (ARC) is implemented only in the SN5Y. Connecting devices via USB is possible in both models. We rated the connectivity of the SN5Y at 8 out of 10, while the SNC4R was rated 6/10. Each of the soundbars can be controlled using the application. The LG SN5Y equipped with a microphone. The models under consideration cannot become part of a multiroom system.
Dolby Atmos audio decoder support is not implemented in either the SN5Y or SNC4R. Devices from this comparison cannot process surround sound due to lack of DTS:X. The same score of 5/10 was put to the soundbars for multichannel surround support.
